6th Grade

Spanish and French

These one semester courses are designed as an introduction to Foreign Languages. Emphasis is placed on building a broad vocabulary, learning basic grammatical constructions, culture, and conversing in simple phrases in the target language.

7th Grade

Spanish and French

These one semester courses are designed to further the student’s proficiency in written and oral communication in the target language. Emphasis is placed on grammatical concepts and a strong vocabulary. Reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as well as culture, are reinforced throughout the course.

8th Grade

Spanish and French

These one semester courses are designed to further the student’s ability and understanding of the Spanish/French languages. The primary goal is to strengthen the grammatical skills, vocabulary and proficiency in the language. Reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as culture, are reinforced throughout the course. Specific students successfully passing a qualifying exam administered by Charlotte Catholic High School at the end of the year may test out of first year foreign language.

German

This one semester course is designed to further the students’ ability and understanding of the German language. It is an introductory course being piloted during the 2007-08 school year.
