Music
The music course is designed for the sixth grade
student with little or no experience in music. Students
learn basic music knowledge; which permits them to
read music, identify pitches and rhythms, and participate
in group singing and playing of instruments. The
students perform various songs with hand bells and
rhythm instruments. The students are also exposed
to various composers, literature, and history important
to the music we hear and learn. Students should be
able to sight-read music and identify the basic components
of music. Hopefully, these students will go on to
participate in the Honors Chorus.
Chorus/Mixed Chorus
The choral program is vital at Holy Trinity Catholic Middle
School. Students who participate in the program will
be able to read music, or at least be able to match pitch
and sing their part. Students are auditioned and placed
in an honors mixed ensemble, boy’s choir or girl’s choir.
Students in the choral program perform December and May
concerts. Students are encouraged to audition and participate
in a chorus.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is offered to students in grades seven
and eight. The course is designed to introduce the world
of music theatre through hands-on practice. History,
traditions, and standards will be examined through listening,
viewing, and performance assignments. The students will
have the chance to perform a musical review that will
showcase the material presented and learned.
Drama
Drama
is designed to introduce various thespian techniques.
Students will be exposed to both formal and informal
genres. This course is available to 7th and 8th grade
students.

as well as learn how to evaluate performance in order to
