Yearbook
Students enrolled develop a hands-on approach to
putting together and laying out a yearbook publication.
The focus is on cropping photographs, writing lead-in
articles and designing themes and cover sheets. This
is a cooperative learning class in which the students
work in groups to complete assignments and deadlines.
This course is available to 7th and 8th grade students.
Newspaper
Students enrolled develop a working knowledge of writing and designing an electronic
newspaper. Students will perform interviews and write articles for publication.
This course is available to 7th and 8th grade students.
Documentary Film
This course is a study of the
history of film. Class begins with the exploration of the
first ever full length documentary, Nanook of the North
by Robert Flaherty. This will be followed by a study in
the progression of documentary styles and effects on the
public with a review of the other documentary films. This
course is available to 8th grade students.
Broadcasting
This course will study application of theory in communications
within the media. Students will learn the concepts of
producing news packages in hands on environment. Students
will be assigned positions in groups and learn how to
direct, produce, write, shoot, host and edit the news
packages. All news stories will be relevant to events
at Holy Trinity covering sports to science labs. This
course is available to 8th grade students.
Art
The student will be exposed to all art elements, principles
of design, color theory, proper use of art tools and
materials within both two and three dimensional design.
The student will also explore the use of a variety of
media, which includes painting, drawing, paper mache,
ceramics, and much more. Projects and mediums may vary
from grade to grade.
Book Illustration
The students will use a story they have written or a story
from the book Italian Folktales by Italo Galveno to develop
this class. This will be a course that focuses on more
intensive and various drawing techniques. The class will
use calligraphy and paper making (for the book cover).
It will culminate in the production of a book. This course
is available to 7th students.
Advanced Painting
This course will offer a more inclusive and intensive study
of painting. We will start by fully exploring different
techniques and applications of acrylic paint followed
by the production of one or two major compositions. If
time permits we will follow with the same experience
in the use of watercolor. Prior approval by Mrs. Beth
Robinson is required. This course is available to 8th
grade students.
